International Womens Day

I am the photographer for The LunchBox List, a women’s business group based here in Perth. For International Womens Day I photographed their luncheon which was the biggest function held in Perth for 2010…hmmmm obviously there are a lot of women out there passionate about getting together and celebrating how far we have come in society. Let me make it clear I am no feminist, but professional photography has always been a “man’s world”. I am so proud of having no fear and “jumping right in”.

Michelle Cowan, some one whom I have known for years and I always remember her in sport gear chatting about footy, spoke at the luncheon. Just so you have some background about her

“At 21 she become Australia’s first female WAFL assistant coach and put West Perth through their paces; at 23 she managed 150 staff (primarily Generation Y) through a $10.3 million Leisure Centre redevelopment, and at 25 she became Managing Director of her own national company working with some of the biggest names in Australian sport”. I love what Michelle mentioned in her speech, “Don’t be the one whom waits for the ship to come to them, swim out there and go for it.” I am “swimming” alright and definitely not drowning!
